Dr. Amal-Lee Amin

Managing Director and Head of Climate Change, British International Investment

Amal-Lee is a passionate advocate for sustainable development. In 2019 she was recognized by Apolitico as one of the top 100 influencers on climate policy. Amal-Lee’s career of over 20 years spans UK Government; multilateral development bank; think-tank and impact investing contexts. Professional achievements have been underpinned by a Doctorate on policy and finance for commercialization of renewable energy in developing economies.    


As Managing Director at British International Investment (formerly CDC Group) she leads teams on Climate Finance, Gender & Diversity investing and technical assistance. Amongst other roles, Amal-Lee is also a senior advisor to the UK COP26 Presidency, a member of the independent High Level Expert Group on Climate Finance and the OECD Advisory Group on climate and economic resilience, and recently became a trustee of the Born Free Foundation.   


From 2015 - 2020, Amal-Lee was Chief of Climate Change at the Inter-American Development Bank, and prior to that initiated and developed E3G’s international climate finance agenda.
