Dr. Wael Elamin
Medical Director & Environmental Science SME, G42
Wael completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (Khartoum, Sudan) and a BSc with honors in Immunology from Kings College London. He went on to achieve a doctorate degree in Molecular Microbiology at Hannover Medical School, Germany with a Magna Cum Laude. He completed training in Internal Medicine in the Republic of Ireland and the United Kingdom and progressed to train as a pathologist / Clinical Microbiologist achieving fellowships of both the Royal Colleges of Physicians and Pathologists. He practiced as a consultant and clinical lead for pathology in the East of England and oversaw a transformation to form one of the largest trusts within the NHS. He remains an active academic at Queen Mary University London and Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi with multiple research interests in particular health care transformation and infectious diseases. His current work includes establishing laboratories for public health surveillance, interfacing with machine learning and artificial intelligence.Â
