Dr. Chantal Line Carpentier
Chief, Trade and Environment Branch, UNCTAD
Dr. Carpentier is Head, Trade, Environment, Climate change, and Sustainable Development Branch of UNCTAD’s Division on International Trade and Commodities (DTIC) following 8 years as Chief of UNCTAD New York Office. Since 2023, she chairs the UN InterAgency Task Force on the Social and Solidarity Economy (UNTFSSE).Â
 Prior to UNCTAD, she supported the Commission on Sustainable Development and served as Major Groups (of non-State actors) Coordinator in the SDGs negotiations and the UN Rio+20 Conference at DESA, Head of the North American Free Trade Agreement Commission for Environmental Cooperation’s, Environment, Economy and Trade Division, Agro-environmental policy analyst for Winrock International and post-Doctoral fellow/Brazil office manager for the International Food Policy Research Institute. Â
She obtained a PhD. in Agro-Environmental Economics from Virginia Technology and MSc. and BSc. from McGill University.Â
