Martin is the GIZ Programme Director of the C40 Cities Finance Facility (CFF), a global initiative supporting cities in developing countries and emerging economies to access financing instruments for their low-carbon investment projects. In 2020 the CFF received the UNFCCC Climate Action Award in the category “Finance”. Martin is an international development professional, with over 15 years experiences in urban development. Previously he worked as advisor to the Federal German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in the strategy development of its global urban portfolio and as product manager for urban resilience within GIZ. From 2007-2013 he was based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia as Head of the Ethio-German Urban Governance and Decentralisation Programme supporting the Ethiopian Government in the development and implementation of a national local government reform programme.
