John is Director of Market Relations and Climate Change Lead at the World Gold Council, leading its climate change research programme and supporting its wider engagement with investors, policy makers and stakeholder organisations.

Additionally, he contributes to the organisation’s wider insight and communications outputs to improve understanding of the whole gold supply chain and integrate ESG considerations into strategic investment perspectives.

John has written extensively and comments regularly on gold market dynamics, investment strategy and sustainability issues. He has been responsible for the production of key research on the socio-economic impacts of the gold industry and is currently focused on developing the Council’s work on the relationship between gold and climate change, including the exploration of gold’s potential role in the context of a decarbonised global economy.

John joined the World Gold Council in early 2005, working initially on investment research and then, from 2007, as Investment Marketing Manager, specifically addressing institutional and HNW investors. He has worked in or around the financial markets for over 25 years, including senior roles in business strategy and development, product management, trading systems and market analysis.

Beyond the financial markets, John has consulted on research, strategy, and knowledge management projects for a range of clients, from small businesses to supranational organisations.

John has degrees from the University of Sussex and Birkbeck College, University of London.
